Well, i've searched and searched and it should work, but it doesn't..when I try to install SuSe 9.2, 9.3 or 10.0, they all share the same problem..the system hangs on the first GUI Screen (the welcome screen) and I can't get past it or reboot the pc using ctrl + alt + delete..its like the keyboard is tottaly locked..I have a compaq presario 2100 notebook (athlon XP, 40 GB hardisk, 256 Mb RAM with 8MB shared to the graphic card (ATI Radeon))and it "should" install according to some forum's that i've encountered...but i can't install it...i'm a newbie on linux...and further more I need it installed...since i'm a student and one of my disciplines is based on suse 9.3...any help would be VERY aprecciated...

Danks....

If you want you can contact me on the e-mail lazrael@hotmail.com..danks :)

Did you get a solution to this?

I have the same issue with Suse 9.1 -> 10.0 on a new philips laptop

had the same issue, resolved it by holding down shift + tab when pc/laptop boots. this cause the installation to start in a non graphic interface

I wanted to thank the previous poster for the <shift><tab> trick to get the SuSE 10 install to start on by Compaq Presario 2145 laptop. I had been having a lot of problems installed several recent SuSE version on this laptop prior to this trick.

I am hoping the excellent SuSE hardware support will help me get everything working on this system. I had everything except 3D graphics working with Slackware 10.2 / Dropline Gnome, but I wanted to see if I can get better wireless support with the built-in or a Belkin USB wireless adapter with SuSE.

Thanks again...

Bob

I just read on another forum that you have to plug in an external monitor and disable the notebook's own monitor in order for it to work properly.
This was tested on an FSC Amilo M1437G and it works - according to them.
I have not tested it myself though...
