I'm having issues similar to those posted by other trying to get Linux installed on an old Maxstation Siletz U notebook (specs at http://www.maxstation.com/specs.asp?ID=56 ).
Keystrokes may or may not register, or may register multiple repeats with just a tap. The mouse cursor movement is jerky and erratic with the cursor disappearing then popping up again on the other side of the screen. Mouse clicks may or may not register.
Keyboard and mouse, both on-board and external, work under Windows, DOS, in BIOS config, in Linux text mode, and in GUI under some Linux distros but not others. For example, they go berzerk under SuSE, RedHat/Fedora, and several others, but behave very well under BLAG which is derived from RedHat (but BLAG's not a viable solution due to other application issues).
All this leads me to believe it's an X-Window imput driver problem, but I'm too damn green when it comes to Linux to know what to look for to resolve the matter. Any ideas are welcome.
Cheers!
